Fabric balance sheet 6/2014

I skipped a month again, I'm sorry! But let's take a  look on the fabric I bought and used:

  • 3m green taffeta (had to reorder because I needed more)
total damage: 3 m fabric

Outgoing (only counting finished projects):
  • 4m green taffeta for my skirt
  • 1m of green taffeta for my boyfriend's vest
  • 3m of black and silver brocade for a skirt, a hat and a vest
  • 1m of black stretch fabric for a skirt (still needs to be posted)
  • 4m black stretch fabric for the fishtail skirt
to the rescue: 13 m fabric

initial stash: 112,75m + 3m - 13m = 102,75m (-10m) fabric in my stash this month

With WGT out of the way (and not much sewn stuff because of my lack of motivation *sigh*), I still reduced my stash a little. Maybe I will make something fancy for Amphi festival? I hope for some motivating sewing dates!

Sunday Sweet - Marble cake

When I said I'm back for good, I really ment it! I haven't baked for months, but today I made two cakes at once:

Both are marble cake (vanilla and chocolate) and are covered with milk chocolate and sugar hearts. My boyfriend and I will take one each to work tomorrow, so I hope they taste alright...

Week in Review 26/2014

*dusts of the blog but leaves the cobwebs* Long time no see... I fell into the "once you stop blogging it get's harder to return with every day" hole and try to climb back to daylight again. Hope this works!

What did I see?
I saw many friends and few bands on WGT, a lot more bands but less friends on Blackfield, watched the new season of "Sherlock" (brilliant!) and a lot of "Teen Mom" (Trash TV is my dirty pleasure)...

What did I ask myself?
Why does everyone have his/her birthday now?

What did I read?
I read through a lot of teasers to decide what I will read next. I still have not finished Mirage though.

What did I work on?
A whole lot of nothing.

I was happy about...
Having a bit of downtime this weekend

I was annoyed about...
Having to make a wedding gift in my downtime this weekend... -.-

I bought...
A dress and a shirt. Plus a lot of stuff on the festivals which I might post.

Brocade hat

I made a quick hat to go with the brocade stuff I sewed.

As you can see  I was a little to trigger happy with the hot glue gun and smeared a little glue on the fabric. But I added a lot of stuff to hide it and hope that nobody will notice:

Also I added some more decoration to the matching skirt: A simple velvet ribbon and another ribbon with velvet and lace I'm really happy with the result (thanks to Neisella who recommended adding more stuff!):

Skeleton fishtail

Was I seriously considering spending the WGT in shirts and leggings a mere 2 weeks ago? Suddenly the sewing bug bit me again! This skirt was nowhere a quick sew (it took me some time to figure the design, cut the pieces, all in all I stretched making it over a month), but I really love the final product... It all started with me falling in love with this design:

I still have no idea where it originated nor where to buy it (If you know, please write me a comment!), but the intricate details, the bony structure... - It was love at first sight! When I finished the snake corset, I knew I needed something to wear with it. Since the corset is figure hugging, I though about jeans or leggings *gg*, but a fishtail skirt would suit fine as well.

When my friend Trisha agreed to paint the spine for me (at least the outlines), I had no more excuses. So now I am the proud owner not of a reconstruction, but a skirt in a similar style with a long train:
